Potassium Pyrophosphate also called sodium pyrophosphate, tetrasodium phosphate or TSPP, is a colorless transparent crystalline chemical compound with the formula Na4P2O7. It is a salt composed of pyrophosphate and sodium ions.

About Potassium Pyrophosphate

In food grade, it is used as emulsifier, quality improver, chelating agent. It can be applied as fresh preserver, water conservation, and quality improver for quick-frozen aquatic products. Complex used with other phosphates in meat processing will get a better effect. Also it can improve the expansibility of ice cream, and the taste of flour and cake, prevent the cheese ageing.

In industry grade, it is chiefly used ,instead of sodium cyanide,in noncyanide electroplating as a complex.Also used as a pretreatment agent in electroplating and in pyrophosphate electrolyte,and as constituent in preparation of clothes detergent,metal-surface-washing and bottlecleansing detergent,or as a additive to all kinds of detergent.
